Pakistan Textile Workers Federation (PTWF) have unique representative character of working class involve in the Textile, Garments and Power looms. Our Federation Aims, at enforcing the principles of equality seeking elimination of all forms of exploitation, forced labour, discrimination and subjugation based on race, religion, sex and origin. The main objective of our federation is the adoption enforcement of recognized ILO declaration on fundamental rights, the uphold of the principles embodied in international labour conventions especially the core labour standards relating to Trade union activities, child labour , bonded labour and equality. . PTWF having his head quarter office in Faisalabad who is the hub of Textile Industry, called the manchester of Pakistan situated in central Punjab
Faisalabad is the third largest city of Pakistan after Karachi and Lahore located in the province of Punjab. Untill 1979 Faisalabad was formerly called Lyallpur, after Sir Charles James Lyall, lieutenant governor of the Punjab. It became headquarters of the Lower Chenab colony and in 1898 was incorporated as a municipality. It is also known as " Little Manchester " because of its textile mills, it has grown rapidly in just a century and is famed as the University of Punjab's Agriculture campus (established 1961).Faisalabad having eight bazaars connected with each other through another bazaar, which is called Goal Bazaar. The clock tower was called the "Ghanta Ghar" for which the gigantic clock was brought from Bombay. On September 1st 1997, Lyall Pur was re-named "Faisal Abad" in the memory of the slain King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, who during his life time contributed a lot to bolster the friendship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan is a basically agriculture country and 72% population is living in the rural/agriculture area 28% population is living in the cities, with in 28% only 10% living standard is near up to mark and 18% population is living in the un-attractive area of the cities. . Faisalabad district is un-parallel for its agricultural productivity with cotton and wheat as its major crops, besides grains and ghee (clarified butter). On the time of independence in 1947 there was 2 Textile mills were working and no other industry was on the ground.
In 1947 population of the country was 40 million which increase in 64 years and present on the Government record is about 170.9 million and un-officially is 185 million which is still increasing 3.5% annually due to defective system of population education.
